It is essential to understand topics and links when creating hypertext documents. Do not confuse Topic with Links! Try this approach...

Step One

  1. Create new document using EASYHELP.DOT as a document template (File | New)
  2. Write some text in your document
  3. Process (Do not create any Topics or Links at this point)
  4. Build

You should now have a single page Help file. Do this before progressing. If you do not get a Help file EasyHelp/Web is not installed properly.

Second Step (only after doing the above)

  1. Structure your document into chunks. It is best to use the Heading 1 style (but not necessary ) for major headings in you document
  2. Position on each heading in turn and make a topic with each one, use short names such as One Two Three
(A topic begins with a Topic heading and end when it reaches the next Topic heading or end of document.)
  3. Process
  4. Build

You should now have a help file that contains Topics that can be accessed with the browse buttons (<< and >>)

DO THE ABOVE and get back to us with anything you are stuck on.

Third Step

  1. After you have created your document and created Topic as in Step ONE and TWO go on to create links
