Below only applies to the old version 3 of EasyHelp/Web.

With EasyHelp/Web you can put files *anywhere* you like and call then whatever you like. Each project you work with has settings for all the paths to the component files.

The source document can be put absolutely anywhere! When generating a help file based on one document the help file name is the same as the document. When creating a help file from multiple documents the name of the help file is based in the project name.

There is one important file that must have the same name as the document. This is called the 'topic & link details file' (docname.INI). So if you rename your document also rename this file! Even so, EasyHelp/Web will re create it if it does not exist, but you will loose the extra information that you have entered such as keywords - it is best to rename.

Summary of locations

  • Document ..... anywhere you like. The other locations can be different directories.
  • Built help file (.HLP)
  • Web pages (.HTM)
  • Graphics files (.BMP, .WMF, .SHG)
  • Topic and Link details file (*.INI)
  • Intermediate files(.RTF, .MAP, .H)
  • Throwaway files (.ERR, .HPJ)

NB. Project information is stored in EASYHELP.INI in your windows directory.
